What is YATA Denmark?

Youth Atlantic Treaty Association Denmark (YATA) is a youth organisation focused on security and defence policy with one clear purpose: to inform, engage, and unite young people with an interest in the questions that shape our collective security.

YATA is an independent association run by volunteers. On their own initiative, our members plan and carry out a wide range of events rooted in foreign, security, and defence policy, firmly anchored in transatlantic cooperation. Most events are open to all, but certain lectures, excursions, and institutional visits are reserved for YATA members.

Security policy is taking up more and more space on the political agenda, both in Denmark and well beyond our borders. In this context, YATA Denmark is an active voice and an important meeting place: a space where young people can learn, discuss, and engage in a world undergoing change.

YATA Denmark was established as the youth branch of the Danish Atlantic Council, a security policy think tank founded in 1950 in the wake of Denmark’s NATO membership. Today we are an independent youth organisation, part of the international Youth Atlantic Treaty Association network — a collaboration that now spans 37 countries. In addition to national activities, YATA Denmark actively participates in international events and collaborates with sister organisations around the world.

The youth voice on security policy

YATA Denmark is a volunteer-driven youth organisation that brings together young people with an interest in foreign, security, and defence policy. We create space for professional deepening, lively debate, and strong communities across Denmark and out into the world.
